The T-Mobile Galaxy S5 is the only device to get Android 5.1.1 update yet on the Galaxy S5 family of devices (lucky you, TMO users), and only recently root was also achieved on the 5.1.1 build OF6 of the device.
But if you’re rather interested in a recovery flashable pre-rooted Stock OF6 ROM, then that’s an option too. Thanks to muniz_ri over at XDA for developing a pre-rooted stock 5.1.1 OF6 ROM for the T-Mobile S5 G900T which you can flash via a custom recovery and have your device updated to Android 5.1.1 without needing a PC and messing with Odin.
The ROM is provided in various flavors like Rooted Stock, Rooted Stock + Deodexed and Non-rooted stock ROM (just for updating safely to 5.1.1).
Also, if you choose to update your T-Mobile S5 to 5.1.1 OF6 build via this rooted ROM, you save yourself from downgrade lockdown which the OF6 build imposes with its new bootloader. The ROM keeps your bootloader at the Android 5.0 base, making it possible for you to downgrade back to 5.0 if need be.
Grab the rooted Android 5.1.1 T-Mobile S5 stock ROM from the download link below and simply it flash via TWRP recovery. You don’t even need to wipe / factory reset before flashing the ROM as their is an in-built script in the ROM’s zip file that will automatically factory reset the phone while flashing the ROM.
Download Rooted T-Mobile S5 5.1.1 OF6 Stock ROMFor other versions of the ROM with Deodexed files and non-root, plus a few optional MODs like tethering, call recording, etc. Go over to this XDA thread.
