The Sprint Galaxy S7 and S7 can now have root access, thanks to a leak releasing the engineering bootloader for both the devices out in the wild.

Engineering bootloader bypasses the locked bootloader on your Sprint Galaxy S7 and hence allows for root files to be installed on the device. These Engineering bootloaders does the wonderous job of rooting your Galaxy S7 variants running on all Qualcomm processors, including the AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile Galaxy S7 variants.

To root your Sprint S7 and S7 Edge, just grab the files from the downloads section below and proceed with the instructions.

How to Root Sprint Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

  1. Download the engineering bootloader for your S7 or S7 edge and the special version of Odin for engineering bootloader from the downloads section above.
  2. Flash the Engineering bootloader to your S7/S7 Edge:
    1. Boot your device into Download mode:
      1. Switch off your device.
      2. Press and hold “Home + Power + Volume down” buttons for a few seconds until you see a warning screen.
      3. Press Volume Up on the warning screen to accept it and boot into Download mode.
    2. Once your device is in download mode, connect it to the PC with a USB cable. The Odin window on PC should detect the device and show an“Added!!” message.
    3. Now click on the AP tab on Odin window and select the engineering bootloader .tar file that you downloaded for your device.
      └ Note: DON’T play with any other options on the screen. You’re only required to connect your device and select the engineering bootloader .tar file in the PA tab.
    4. Click the Start button on Odin and wait for it to finish the process. Once it has finished successfully, you’ll see a pass message on the Odin screen.
    5. Your device will automatically reboot when Odin is done flashing. You can then disconnect your device.
  3. Install SuperSU for S7QC (QualComm) devices:
    1. Download the SuperSU S7QC .zip from the downloads section above, and unzip it on your PC.
    2. Setup ADB and Fastboot on your PC.
    3. Enable Developer options and USB debugging on your device.
    4. Connect your Sprint S7 or S7 Edge to the PC with a USB cable and run/execute root.bat file from the files you extracted from SuperSU zip.

That’s all. If you followed the instructions carefully, your Sprint Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge should get have root access by now. To verify, download/install any ‘root checker’ app from the Play Store.
