Root for the Sprint Galaxy S6 edge G925P on 5.1.1 is also here now. Thanks to the same guy djvoleur over at XDA who brought us root for the Sprint S6 920P variant a couple of days ago.

The root method comes with a custom kernel that is almost stock OF7 kernel except for the part where it’s modified to achieve root access. The modified kernel comes as an Odin flashable .tar file, and flashing it will trip the knox counter and void warranty on your Sprint S6 edge.

If you wish to go ahead, grab the modified Stock OF7 kernel from the download link below and flash it to your Sprint S6 edge using Odin.

Root Sprint S6 G920P on Android 5.1.1 via custom kernel

  1. Download the custom kernel for ODIN (.tar) and Odin 3.10.6 from the downloads section above.
  2. Open Odin 3.10.6 on your PC.
  3. Enable developer option on your Sprint S6 edge to disable Factory Reset Protection:
    1. Open Settings » select About phone » scroll to the bottom and tap on Build number seven times to enable Developer options.
    2. Now go back to Settings menu and select “Developer options” which should now be visible above “About phone” option.
    3. Tick the “Enable OEM Unlock” checkbox from developer options menu to disable Factory Reset Protection on the device.
  4. Boot your Sprint S6 edge into Download mode:
    1. Switch off your phone.
    2. Press and hold “Home + Power + Volume down” buttons for a few seconds until you see a warning screen.
    3. Press Volume Up on the warning screen to accept it and boot into Download mode.
  5. Once your S6 edge is in download mode, connect it to the PC with a USB cable. The Odin window on PC should detect the phone and show an “Added!!” message.
  6. Now click on the AP button on Odin window and select the 925Proot_test8.tar file that you downloaded above.
└ Note: DON’T play with any other options on the screen. You’re only required to connect your Sprint S6 edge and select the KERNEL file in PA tab.
  7. Click the Start button on Odin and wait for it to finish the process. Once it has finished successfully, you’ll see a pass message on the Odin screen.
  8. Your phone will automatically reboot when Odin is done flashing.

That’s it. You should have root access now, look for the SuperSU app in your app drawer. Also, download and install this root checker app from Play Store to verify root access.

Thank you for your time and effort. Truly appreciated on this end. I’d be lost without people like you. I just switched to Android after being an iPhone guy since the first one. Thanks Again!
