Well, I’ve been waiting the whole night for Chainfire to update the Nexus 4 CF Auto Root for Android 5.0 Lollipop, but came to know it only now that he updated Nexus 4 CFAR to be compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop even before Lollipop factory image released for the device. So yes, even if the CF Auto Root page says it’s for Android 4.4.4 build, it’ll work on Lollipop. Chainfire has already updated it.
Chainfire’s CF Auto Root a.k.a CFAR for Android 5.0 Lollipop firmwares is an one-click method, very simple to use. All you need is a PC and unlocked bootloader on your Nexus 4. CFAR won’t wipe data on your device if your bootloader is already unlocked. But in case your bootloader is locked, CFAR will attempt to unlock the bootloader itself and hence completely wipe your device.
CFAR works by flashing a modified boot image (included in the package) to inject root and install SuperSU app into the system folder. While CFAR is doing its magic you’ll see a red Android on your device’s screen that stays for around 10 seconds before rebooting. And it might reboot more than once, but don’t worry, it’s normal.
