Motorola recently rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Moto G 2014. And it was well assumed that the device will be rootable on the Marshmallow update, since it comes with an unlockable bootloader and Chainfire had already released SuperSU v2.67 with systemless root.
However, it didn’t happen as we assumed it to be. Rooting Moto G 2014 straight by flashing SuperSU 2.67 doesn’t gets you root. Instead, it’ll get your device stuck at the Motorola Logo.
But there’s a workaround to this. User W3ND31 over at xda posted a neat trick to root Moto G 2014 Marshmallow with Chainfire’s systemless root using two versions of SuperSU. Check out the quick instructions below for details:

How to Root Moto G 2014 Marshmallow Stock ROM
- Make sure your Moto G 2014 is running fully stock Marshmallow ROM.
- Download and transfer both SuperSU v2.62-3 and v2.67 from download links above to your Moto G 2014.
- Boot your Moto G 2015 into TWRP recovery and flash the SuperSU v2.62-3 file first.
- Reboot phone after flashing the SuperSU v2.62-3.
- Again boot back into the TWRP recovery and now flash SuperSU v2.67.
- Reboot phone.
That’s it. Your Moto G 2014 should be rooted now and boot up just fine.
Happy Androiding!
