It often happens that a new official firmware update comes along from the phone’s manufacturer and causes you to lose root access on your phones. And when it’s an update to a completely new version of Android, it takes extra time as the modding community rushes to try to gain root access on the new firmware version as the old methods fail to work.
LG Optimus 3D/LG Thrill 4G owners, who lost root access on their phones when they updated to Gingerbread can now get it back thanks to a new root exploit released by Dan Rosenberg and posted by XDA member darkoctavius. There’s a catch however. The method currently only works on phones running the v20x firmware, so those who have updated to version 21x and later will have wait a while longer to get root access on their devices.
The method is quite simple. You just need to connect your Optimus 3D/LG Thrill 4G to the computer with USB debugging enabled, execute the run.bat file, then sit back and relax as your phone is automatically rooted. It’s only compatible with Microsoft Windows at this point, so users of other OS are out of luck.
