AT&T Nexus 6 comes with a handful of carrier branding stuff like an AT&T logo on the back of the device, AT&T bloatware, SIM lock, restricted WiFi tethering and an AT&T logo splash screen when the device boots.
This isn’t what we expect of Nexus devices. Google Nexus devices are known and supposed to be clean of of bloatware and any restrictions, so AT&T you’re gonna be put to shame when the tech-savvy folks among us sit to get rid of every crap you’ve put on Nexus 6.
We’ll begin with the AT&TÂ splash screen that appears when you boot your AT&T Nexus 6:
ROOT ACCESS REQUIRED
- Download and install a nice root explorer app, we recommend the free ES File Explorer app →
- Open your file explorer app and navigate to this directory /oem/media
- You’ll see bootanimation.zip file here, either delete it or rename it anything like attboot.zip
- Reboot your Nexus 6, AT&T splash screen should now be gone.
Thanks for the article. I downloaded a file manager app, but I am unable to rename/delete the bootanimation.zip on my new Nexus 6 running Android 5.0.1
