Verizon, probably in a bid to clear away the remaining stock of the Galaxy Nexus before the new crop of smartphones come out this holiday season, has dropped its price to $49.99 per month on contract. While the next Nexus smartphone might be due by the end of this year (which isn’t certain), such a low price should entice at least a few customers.
Currently the only Verizon smartphone to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the Galaxy Nexus sports a 4.65″ Super AMOLED HD 720p display, 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor, 1GB RAM, 5MP rear and 1.3MP front camera, 32GB storage, 4G LTE connectivity, NFC, and a 1750 mAh battery. Not the best specifications around these days, but it’s the closest you get to pure unadulterated Android and fast updates (if Verizon allows it).
