Panasonic Lumix CM1 cameraphone listed for pre-order in U.S. for $999

The Panasonic Lumix CM1 cameraphone is now available on pre-order in the U.S. market for a price of $999. The device is available in the unlocked version at Adorama and B&H.

The Panasonic Lumix CM1 is can act as a smartphone and it boasts mid-range hardware. The main downside of the cameraphone is that it is stuck with the Android 4.4 KitKat while the other devices in the market are launching with the Android 5.0 Lollipop build. However, the firm has stated that the Lumix CM1 will receive the Lollipop update soon.

The overall interface of the smartphone looks like stock Android and the only major addition is the Panasonic’s camera application that provides fine tuned control on the 20 MP snapper at the back. The hardware controls of the device include a ring around the camera sensor that enables full manual operation and a dedicated camera shutter button.

The 20 MP main snapper onboard the device features a f/2.8 Leica DC Elmarit lens, RAW support, 2X zoom and 4K video recording functionality. There is a 1.1 MP front facing selfie shooter as well onboard.

Otherwise, the Panasonic Lumix CM1 boasts of a 4.7 inch Full HD 1080p display and it is equipped with a 2.3 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor teamed up with 2 GB of RAM. The cameraphone boasts of 16 GB of native storage space that can be expanded further up to 128 GB using a micro SD card. The other goodies onboard the Panasonic device include Wi-Fi, LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2,600 mAh battery.
