If there’s one phone which has been in the news for ages, it has to be none other than the Oppo Find 9. Leaks surrounding the successor to Oppo Find 7 (which launched back in 2014) started surfacing online back in 2015, and the device itself , not known as Find 9, hasn’t seen the light of day yet.

That, however, isn’t stopping rumors from popping up on the internet sporadically. Just a few days ago, another image render of what could be the Oppo Find 9 surfaced online on the Chinese social media website, Weibo. It finally feels like Oppo would launch the smartphone this year, and it may happen pretty soon.

That’s precisely the reason why we are writing this all-you-need-to-know piece. Here’s what to expect from Oppo Find 9 when it launches officially.

Oppo Find 9 Release Date

As mentioned above, Oppo’s upcoming flagship has been floating around the internet for a long time now. It was earlier said that the Oppo Find 9 would hit the market sometime in March this year. Clearly, it didn’t happen.

Now, there are rumors coming straight out of China suggesting that the smartphone will finally see the light of day within Q2. Well, we have already entered the second quarter of this year. If these rumors are legit, we should see the smartphone launch shortly.

If you’re a Oppo fan, and waiting anxiously for the Oppo Find 9, then expect it to release in China in May or June 2017. There is no word available on when Oppo is looking to release the device outside China, so if you are from India or Europe, you wait could continue well into Q3.

Oppo Find 9 Specs

Design

Previous rumors suggested that the smartphone would feature a curved design on the bottom. The latest renders, however, show no signs of a curve. In line with the previous rumors, there will be an Oppo logo below the display alongside the textured finish as can be seen from the image above (also included in the gallery below).

We are not sure if this design is legit since it’s just another leak coming in from China. However, one thing is sure. It will have very slim bezels akin to most of the flagship smartphones these days. There’s no sign of physical home button, neither on the front nor on the back, in design renders which means the device will come with on-screen navigation buttons. The latest renders also reveal the presence of a button on the bottom right edge. This could either be a shutter or a customizable physical button.

Also, it’s currently unknown if the company will add water and dust resistance to the smartphone. But, it’s safe to expect the Oppo Find 9 to come with an IP certification.

Display

There have been a couple of conflicting rumors as far as the display on the Oppo Find 9 is concerned. It was earlier speculated to feature a dual-curved display similar to the Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge, but now the latest image renders suggest otherwise.

In either of the cases, the smartphone is expected to come with a 5.5-inch QHD display with a layer of 2.5D curved glass atop. It not known which type of display it will be, but we don’t think you will get AMOLED type here, which is okay.

Processor

Oppo’s upcoming flagship handset, like all the other high-end smartphones, will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset. That is really, awesome, in case you not much into the processor game. It’s the best mobile processor available on earth right now, apart from the Samsung’s Exynos 8895 processor.

However, word has it that there will be an affordable version of the Oppo 9 as well and is expected to feature the Snapdragon 653 chipset. Oppo Find 9 Lite, perhaps? They are also expected to differ in terms of memory and storage, naturally.

Anyway, with Snapdragon 835 processor, you really don’t have to worry about Find 9’s processing power.

RAM and Storage

The high-end variant of the Find 9 is tipped to pack 6GB of RAM along with 128GB of on-board storage. There are also rumors indicating that it will offer 8GB of RAM.

The affordable variant, on the other hand, is expected to pack 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage space.

Both the handsets are believed to come with the option to expand the storage space up to 256GB via a microSD card.

Software

The Oppo Find 9 should ideally ship with the Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS out of the box. Which means users will be able to utilize all the features like improved Doze mode, revamped notification shade and the like straight away.

Also, split-screen mode should work really well on the Find 9 owing to its large display. What’s interesting, though, is the fact that the smartphone is expected to ship with Oppo’s latest custom skin knows as ‘Find OS’ which also harbors a a new AI system. Sadly, that’s all we know about the software. We will update the post should we learn something new.

Camera

Oppo has been killing it with its selfie-centric smartphones of late. We expect the company to further up its selfie game by a notch with the Find 9. The smartphone is rumored to feature a 16MP front-facing shooter to cater the needs of selfie lovers.

Dual cameras at front are also a rage now a days, but that doesn’t mean a good single sensor is easily beatable.

For photography enthusiasts, the company is expected to tuck in a 21MP sensor on the rear. Once again, no dual camera at the back either, but as we told you earlier, single camera can easily outperform a dual camera if it’s a capable one — for what it’s worth, the best mobile camera on earth uses single sensor only (we’re talking Google Pixel).

Though, we’re a game for dual camera too. The leaks showcase only a single camera, but with Oppo’s local OEMs subscribing to dual camera tech, we wouldn’t be surprised if Oppo makes a last minute change to rope in dual camera at back. Moreover, considering the fact that the company had already showcased a crazy 5x dual camera zoom system at the MWC 2017 event, it’s highly likely for the Find 9 to get one.

Battery

Oppo’s Find 9 is expected to come with a 4,100mAh battery to keep the lights on easily for more than a day.

Plus, it will offer support for the company’s VOOC fast charging technology. So charging the massive 4,100mAh battery shouldn’t take much time.

Oppo Find 9 Price

A few reports flowing in from China earlier this year suggested that the Oppo Find 9 will set you back by CNY 3999 which roughly translates to $580 or INR 38,000.

It goes without saying that all the information mentioned above is entirely based on speculations. So, take it with a pinch of salt.

But when you are getting Snapdragon 835 processor and 6GB RAM, alofn with Quad-HD display with minimal bezels, you could hardly complain.
