OnePlus is ensuring that users who are not upgrading to the OnePlus 7 series will still be able to enjoy its cool features on their older models. Manu J, the Global Product Operations Manager at OnePlus shared an update regarding the features that will be available for the OnePlus 5/5T/6/6T soon. Here’s a look at what’s coming for these phones:
Fnatic mode
Fnatic mode is a result of OnePlus’ latest collaboration with popular Esports Organiser, Fnatic. This mode enables distraction-free gaming and optimizes the phone to ensure a great gaming experience. OnePlus is planning an update to boost the CPU performance and network speed of the older models so that users can enjoy gaming in Fnatic mode.
Zen Mode
As the name suggests, your phone will be completely inactive with the exception of two functioning functions i.e calling and camera for 20 minutes. This mode compels you to take a break and step out.
Screen Recorder
This feature is will be available in the Quick Access panel of your phone so you don’t have to depend on a third party app for recording games and tutorials through your phone.
Quick reply in landscape mode
This is an especially convenient feature that lets you draft a reply without interrupting the current activity on your phone. If you’re watching a movie or playing a game, a quick reply window will pop next to the main window and you can do the needful without losing track of your movie or game. Also, you can select which apps should be active in quick reply so you’re not disturbed unless absolutely necessary.
DC Dimming
This is a healthier alternative to using screen brightness. Instead of switching the backlight on and off to control the brightness, DC Dimming controls the flow of current or voltage passing through the backlight instead. This is a brilliant solution for people who are sensitive to backlight switching and as a result, suffer from headaches, eye fatigue, and migraine.
Ram Boost
This is an intuitive feature that learns and adapts to your user behavior by understanding the apps you’re planning to launch and the kind of data you load. Ram Boost will optimize your phone’s performance based on its predictions from the data it collects about your phone usage. This feature is already available in the OnePlus 6 and 6T but is on its way for the 5 and 5T.
Android Q update
The Android Q Developer preview has already arrived for the 6 and 6T. While there is no official date announced for the 5 and 5T, OnePlus assures us that they are definitely bringing the Android Q update to the older versions.
We’re looking forward to these updates and how they will function in the previous OnePlus models. While OnePlus was not able to deliver features that require hardware support, they are ensuring that the loyal OnePlus community will still be able to enjoy as many benefits as possible.
