The OnePlus 6 was a success and garnered much appraise by the tech media. We are now just about a month away from the launch of the OnePlus 6T which is the successor to the OnePlus 6. We already have a fair idea of the specifications of the device and what to expect by recent leaks.

It was rumored that the OnePlus 6T would launch with an in-display fingerprint sensor and now OnePlus has indeed confirmed this by an email to CNET in which they also shared a screenshot of the lockscreen to show how to sensor would look like on the lockscreen. OnePlus is going to call the feature Screen Unlock.

“We unlock our phones multiple times a day, and Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps to complete the action. By adding this feature as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock, users will have options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them,” OnePlus told CNET in an email.

The date on the screenshot shows October 17, which could be the date the OnePlus 6T is announced. This would make it the first phone available in the US to have an in-display fingerprint scanner.

By adding the in-display fingerprint sensor OnePlus 6T would be among the first few smartphones to use the in-display fingerprint sensor along with the Vivo V11, Vivo X20 Plus UD, Vivo X21 UD, and the Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS.

The OnePlus 6T is expected to launch with a price tag of $550 in the US (roughly Rs. 39,500). Rumors also indicate a waterdrop notch, thin bottom bezel, and a triple camera setup at the back which would be rather clean except for the camera cut-out as the fingerprint scanner would no longer be at the back.
