Before its release, the flagship phone OnePlus 5 was seen beating Samsung Galaxy S8 in GeekBench score, thus raising our expectations sky high. However, the news of OnePlus found cheating on benchmarking sites reduced the credibility of OnePlus 5. And if you are a OnePlus fan you will be further disappointed to learn that the flagship device scores lower than Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel in DxOMark rating.
The overall DxOMark score garnered by the phone is 87 which is lower than that of the 88 and 89 score of Galaxy S8 and Pixel smartphone. Nevertheless, the 87 score is also an ‘an excellent result’ as cited by DxOMark. The phone houses rear dual cameras of 16MP+20MP resolution with the former acting as the primary camera and the second lens offering additional features.

In the sphere of shooting still with OnePlus 5 camera, DxO cites its main strengths as ‘vivid color rendition with accurate white balance, and good detail preservation along with fast and smooth autofocus’. In outdoor shoots, outstanding color and detail make the phone a winner. DxO says in outdoor shoots ‘color rendering is excellent, ensuring vivid and pleasant hues, with slightly punchier saturation compared to the iPhone 7 and the Samsung S8, and on par with the Google Pixel’.
Indoor shoot is where the phone could have undergone some improvement. DxO found indoor shoots good but inconsistent. There’s noticeable blur and loss of detail in some handheld shots compared to those shot on using a tripod. Very fine details are also lost In sharp low-light images.
