OnePlus is recruiting Android Pie public beta testers for OnePlus 3 and 3T users in China. This is the kind of news many users of these two phones across the globe have been waiting to hear since late last year following the release of Pie for OnePlus 5 and 5T users.
The company promised that it will update the OnePlus 3 and 3T to Android Pie, but given the pair was already past the usual software support window, it was never going to be in a hurry to push the update.
But after a long wait, those using the Chinese variants of the duo can now submit their interest to try Android 9 Pie beta on either device. This version of Pie has HydrogenOS on top, but we still expect the version carrying OxygenOS to be released in the coming weeks.
Apparently, the global version has encountered some issues in the Google CTS, but the team is working on a solution. The fact that HydrogenOS doesn’t need passing CTS is the reason Android Pie beta is almost ready for the public in China.
The global OnePlus 3 and 3T have OxygenOS on top of stock Android and while Pie is expected, when exactly OnePlus plans to release the beta is unknown. Still, history tells us that Chinese variants of the pair usually gets software updates a week or two ahead of the global variants.
