Looks like we have confirmation about the official battery capacities for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. The smaller S8 would have a 3000mAh battery, whereas the larger S8 Plus would have a 3500mAh battery.
According to the source, a Samsung official confirmed the same. The official also mentioned that the new batteries would be manufactured by Samsung SDI and Murata Manufacturing in Japan.
We decided to install the battery to be mounted on the Galaxy S8, test 3000mAh for the 5.8-inch model and 3500mAh for the 6.2-inch model
The Galaxy S8 was originally supposed to have a higher battery capacity than the Galaxy Note 7. However, after the Note 7 explosions, Samsung decided to stick to smaller capacity batteries. The Galaxy S8 Plus would feature the same battery capacity as the Note 7.
All this because of the safety concerns that Samsung has placed now on batteries. Yes, the new smartphones will be getting lesser capacity batteries than the current S7 models. But, Samsung could have done something with the software to get the most out of it. Also, the Snapdragon 835 processor is said to be very efficient and should also help extend battery life.
