Google will be officially announcing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on Sept. 29th, along with Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. The update will be coming with a handful of new features that we’ve already seen in the Android M developer preview images.

But one of the most exciting feature of Marshmallow update — “Now on Tap” — wasn’t available on the developer preview releases of Marshmallow. It’s a pretty neat feature that intelligently analyzes content on your screen, and when you press and hold the soft on-screen home button on your device, it automatically gives you relevant suggestions based on the content on the screen.

For example, if you received an SMS from Ganesha saying “Meet me at the temple tomorrow morning” you could just press and hold the home button and Google Now will show up with an option to set a reminder for the meeting. Effortless, isn’t it?

Well, for the Nexus devices, it’ll work just flawlessly. But for other Android devices with hardware/capacitive buttons like the Galaxy S6, how will it work?

Currently, you can set Google Now to launch on Galaxy S6 with press and hold of the Home button, but to use “Now on Tap” feature you need the same trigger, so how would you use “Now on Tap” on Galaxy S6 and other similar devices?

This isn’t a problem on devices with on-screen keys since you open Google Now on them by swiping up on home button, so utilizing the press and hold home button trigger for “Now on Tap” is no problem on devices with soft keys.

Now on Tap is one of the most exciting feature on Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, and we don’t think Google would leave out flagship devices like Galaxy S6 with hardware keys from this very useful feature. So “Now on Tap” will most probably work on Galaxy S6. But how? That remains to be seen when Marshmallow update officially hits Galaxy S6 and other similar devices.
