Notes App Allows You to Automatically Solve Math Problems With the iOS 18 Update! Check out the Process

What to know

  • The Notes app automatically solves math problems in your notes.
  • Select between ‘Suggest Results’ and ‘Insert Results’ from More Options > Math Results in your note.
  • Type your math problem and follow it up with an ‘equals to’ sign to get the results.

The Notes app on your iPhone now lets you solve math problems. The feature, borrowed from the iPad’s calculator app, will automatically solve the math problems that you type in the notes app. Although the feature on iOS 18 isn’t as advanced as the calculator app on iPadOS 18, it’s still a highly useful feature to quickly solve math equations without opening the calculator app.

How to solve Math problems in Notes

Depending on your use case, you can either get the Notes app to suggest results or automatically insert the results in your notes. Here’s how:

  1. Type a math problem in Notes and follow it up with an ‘equals to’ sign (=). Then tap on the three-dot icon in the top right corner.
  2. Select Math Results and choose Suggest Results or Insert Results.
  3. Suggest Results will offer the solution to your problem once it sees the equals to sign. While the Insert Results option will automatically insert the result into Notes.

If you’re a math wiz and don’t want the math results spoiling your mental gymnastics, then simply turn off the Math Results option entirely.
