After quite a long wait, the Nokia 3 Oreo update is now rolling out. HMD had promised that the device will be upgraded directly to Android 8.0 Oreo and not Android 7.1.2 Nougat as claimed earlier, however, the OS is now rolling out as a beta version.

This has happened for all Nokia phones (except the Nokia 6 2018 which jumped directly to a stable version of Oreo), where a beta version is rolled out first for testing purposes before the stable version comes out a few weeks later.

At the moment, we don’t know how long the beta testing phase will take, but it should be several weeks. For the willing parties, you can enroll your Nokia 3 into the Oreo beta program by clicking here, but keep in mind that this isn’t stable software, so be ready for inconsistent performance, bugs and apps crashing, among other annoying stuff. But that’s not always the case.

The update weighs a huge 1.7GB, so make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection. It also installs February’s Android security patch, which is a pretty nice gesture by HMD.
