Android 7.0 Nougat update for Galaxy A5 is NOT in works, Optus rectifies its announcement page

Looks like the Optus Samsung Galaxy A5 may not be getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update anytime soon. Users in Australia may be stuck with the Marshmallow software on the A5 2016 for some more time.

Last month, Optus had updated their software update page and revealed that the Galaxy A5 2016 Android 7.0 update was being tested. It stated that the update would be released by the end of January 2017.

Now, however, Optus has once again updated their software update page for Samsung and have removed the previous remarks. It now just says that the Galaxy A5 has the Android 6.0.1 software. Perhaps Optus made a mistake and updated the list with the wrong details.

However, the Galaxy A5 2016 and the A3 2016 were both recently spotted on GFXBench running Android Nougat. The Galaxy A7, A5 and A3 were also released recently with updated features, but running Android Marshmallow. Samsung recently started to seed the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Meanwhile, if you’re keen on getting Android 7.0 Nougat running on your Galaxy A5, head over to our Lineage OS download page and get the Android 7.1.1 based Lineage 14.1 build for your Galaxy A5 2015.
