Well, this was quick, in fact the quickest of all ICS android phone developments that are about to get unleashed. Google released the AOSP code of Android 4.0 on Nov 14, and just within 2 days, we’ve a developer working on to port it for Nexus One.
I’m sure many developers are working to port Android 4.0 on their respective phones for which they’ve done some developments before or not, but it seems Nexus One is the first device to get an ICS port before others.
As for the Nexus One Android 4.0 custom rom, sadly it’s in WIP stage and far from daily life suitability. But it’s good to hear that someone has started the porting work, and has got initial must-get success too:
- Room boots — which is big thing!
- Bluetooth working
- Touchscreen is fixed too, although not perfect
- Everything else is a to-do for now
Of course, the rom isn’t of any use to a normal user right now and thus hasn’t been put for download by its developer texasice, but still, it’s worth the share with you — I know too may of you guys are waiting for a good ICS port rom — and also, I think it’ll not it take too much long to become a daily life use rom. So, keep watching this space. We’ll update it with download links (as and when it’s out), how to install guide, what works and what doesn’t, etc.
You can learn more about the rom on its development page here, and share your views, give thanks to dev and if possible help the development too by donating to the cause.
