The Nexus 5X is among the last Nexus devices — with the Nexus 6P — as the series is now officially dead. But it will receive the Android 7.1 update, as well as Android O 8.0 update next year, along with the developer preview.

Right now though, Sprint has released a new build for the device carrying the October patch release, and it’s coming in as NBD90W.

Nexus 5X Android 7.1 release

Even though we never doubted it, Google has made it clear that the current Nexus devices will be supported with software updates for two-years for sure, even when there won’t be any new Nexus sets to hug us this year or this time next year.

So, yes, Android 7.1 is a definite yes. We don’t have the release date, but we’d be surprised if it isn’t out by November 5.

It’s rumored that new Pixel sets — Pixel and Pixel XL — will be launched with Android 7.1 pre-installed, as NDE63H, so, that’s the build we’re expecting on Nexus 5X too. Keep an eye on out Android 7.1 download page for this.
