The Nexus 4 8GB has perhaps been the most elusive device post-launch in recent times. After getting sold out on Google Play almost everywhere across the globe, it has been a cat and mouse game of when it comes back in stock, and when one can place an order, albeit with high waiting times for delivery, before it vanished from inventory again.

Google, for once, seems to have been overwhelmed with the demand for the latest Nexus smartphone, and unable to seamlessly regulate supply on Google Play. After being out of inventory for a while, the Nexus 4 was to go back up on sale at Google Play UK and Germany at 5PM local time a couple of days ago.

Well, it did, and for those who couldn’t get lucky enough to order one, it turns out that the Nexus 4 8GB listing is now showing the increasingly familiar Sold Out status again! Of course, with pricing as competitive as Google as attached to it, and the impressive specs LG has packed into this beast of a device, it is no surprise that it is selling out as soon as it is back in stock.

But then, this is also giving an opportunity to retail channels to sell it at impossibly higher retail prices, and those who aren’t willing to play the waiting game on Google Play, are only too happy to purchase it from other channels.

For those who missed the specs list, the Nexus 4 sports a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with Adreno 320 GPU, 4.7″ True HD IPS+ LCD display, 8/16GB storage, 8 megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.3 megapixel unit on the front, Wi-Fi, HSPA+ 42mbps, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 2100 mAh battery, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

No word yet on when the 8GB version will be back in stock, but you can keep checking the listing page on Google Play, and might just get lucky. The 16GB version is still available in stock though, albeit showing a shipping time of 5-6 weeks, so you may want to order it before it does the disappearing act too.
