Earlier today we reported about new updates rolling out to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy A8 carrying this month’s Android security patches. Apparently, even more Samsung devices are on the receiving end with users of the Galaxy A5 2016 and Galaxy J7 2016 reporting that new updates are arriving on their devices.

Where those using the Galaxy A5 2016 are receiving a software update with version A510FXXS5CRE3, those using the Galaxy J7 2016 are receiving software version J710MNVJU4BRE2. Both devices’ security patch level will be updated to May 2018, but since these are OTA updates, it’ll take time before all units get the download notification.

You can sit back and wait for the OTA notification or take matters in your own hands by forcing the update via the About phone option in the Settings menu, but first, find a suitable Wi-Fi connection and ensure your A5 or J7 handset has at least 50% battery juice.
