New update for Galaxy J2 2016 and Galaxy J5 2016 brings June patch; Galaxy J3 2017 updated to May patch

Samsung-Galaxy-J5-(2016) Nougat update

Samsung has new updates for its budget phones that install new security patches. While two of them are receiving the latest security patch for the month of June, there’s one still hanging on to the May 2018 patch.

The former camp has the Galaxy J2 2016 and Galaxy J5 2016 while the latter has the Galaxy J3 2017. Where the J2 is receiving an update with software version J210FXXU0ARE6, the J5 is receiving an update that installs firmware version J510FQXXU2BRE2. As for the J3 users, you should watch out for an update that installs version J330NKOU1ARE3.

These are OTA updates, meaning it’ll take several days before every user of the phones in question gets notified about the update. Waiting is the easier option, but you can also try new stuff by heading to Settings > About phone > System update and download the update manually.
