But what about Android 9 Pie? Will the two smartphones get the bump up to the next-version of Android? Well we have good and bad news.
For starters, we don’t expect to see the standard Redmi Note 5 get Pie treatment. Fortunately, Xiaomi devices are quite popular in the developer community, so there should be many Android Pie custom ROMs available for the device. So not all is lost.

As for the Redmi Note 5, the phone will probably get Android Pie at some point in time. The handset launched with Android 8.1 pre-installed, but even so, we can’t offer any guarantees at this point.
