New AOKP Build 30 Released

If you have flashed custom ROMs on your Android device or are even remotely interested in the Android world, you know that Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Android 4.0 was released a few months back. As is the case with all new Android releases, custom ROMs based on the said Android version start coming out in full force for many different devices. And with the coming of Android 4.0, AOKP (Android Open Kang Project) sprang up from an unknown to being one of the most well-known custom ROMs based on ICS, thanks to its great mix of performance and a plethora of customizable tweaks and settings with the inbuilt ROM Control mod.

Build 30 of AOKP has now been released for all supported devices, which brings a few important changes and improvements over previous builds. Here’s a look at the changes in build 30:

  • Fixed T9 Dialer
  • Fixed ROM Control issues with saving images (should be fixed for ALL devices)
  • Navigation bar overhaul (ability to set custom actions/icons and long-press actions)
  • Sped up default animation speeds
  • Removed OpenWnn from builds (Japanese IME)
  • Added option to disable camera sounds (Settings -> Sound)

In case you own one of the officially supported devices, head on over to the original information page on RootzWiki to get more details and to download build 30 for your device. Of course, for devices that are not officially supported, unofficial builds based on build 30 should spring up on the devices’ respective forums on both XDA and RootzWiki, so be on the lookout for those.

  1. is it better than  milestone-4..?

  2. please list out the changes in it I’m using Samsung galaxy S…

  3. Does the DataFix.zip work on AOKP builded Ice Cream Sandwich? 🙂

    1. It won’t need datafix, I guess. But if you get problems with data, you can try datafix. Backup your rom from cwm recovery first so that you can restore it back in case something goes wrong.

  4. Hey guys, the available RAM seems to have reduced to 325MB (it was around 350MB with JWT + AOKP B28), swype is working again 🙂

    A few bugs though:

    1) Baseband version is still shown as JVT when it is actually JW1

    2) Cant access recent apps (via long press of the menu button). The ROM control only has settings for the softkeys which i do not plan to use.

    3) Cant access external SD card when connected to the PC. Been looking for a fix but no luck so far, they say you need to change the MTP settings under ‘settings>storage’ but i don’t see any option for that…

Do let me know if you come across a fix for these issues.
    Thanks

  5. I have seen there is Build 31 is also there? and how to update?

  6. Just performed a dirty flash (flash w/o wiping or factory reset) of build 31 and gapps (google apps zip of 51.9mb) over build 30:
In case you haven’t already flashed build 30, do a wipe + factory reset and flash build 31 instead.

The recent apps are now accessible via the long press of the menu button.

Still cannot access ext sd card on the pc via USB though. Any suggestions for a fix?

Available RAM has increased to 382MB (Note that I’m using the JW4 baseband).

Build 31 uses Icy Glitch kernel V14

remember that you need to re-flash gapps after b31… the gapps link is available on the b30 link.

    Good Luck!

    1. Should i wipe Dalvik Cache or not?

      1. Well i didnt wipe anything, just flashed b31 & gapps, was on b30 before that, no problems so far. You will retain your apps & data with a dirty flash. You can do a wipe and factory reset (regular flash) if you wish but you will loose your apps & data.

        1. i know that right now i am on build 22 so i am asking should i have to wipe Dalvik cache also?

          1. Oh, well in that case do a cache and dalvik wipe in addition to a factory reset. Before that I had upgraded to jw4. you could try that as well.
