At the Mobile World Congress, SanDisk has announced its first-ever USB flash drive with a Type C connector. The Type-C USB port will be present on about 12% of the phones by 2016, so it’s expected to go forward brilliantly!
Although it will be quite a few years before USB Type-C appears on all the computers and mobile devices, SanDisk’s new 32GB Dual USB device still comes with a standard size USB port on one end! The flash drive has 2 connectors – one full size USB 3.0 and one USB 3.0 Type-C. The USB 3.0 drive can be used on your computer with a full sized port right now.
Type C connectors are quite small measuring 8.4 x 2.6mm but still offer more power and bi-directional charging capabilities. As this device is a bit premature, it won’t be available anytime soon. However, reports suggest that it will be out sometime in the second quarter of the year.
