Putting all rumors to rest, Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha – who also told us that Google Music is launching soon with XOOM — has announced on Wednesday that the company’s first android tablet, the Motorola XOOM, will be available from Verizon wireless at the unsubsidized rate of $799. For your info, Motorola XOOM is the flagship device for Android 3.0, which has been designed specifically for the tablets and is the most impressive android iteration thus far.
This Honeycomb – that is, Android 3.0 — tablet comes with the option of connecting to Verizon’s 3G data network and in the coming months you can also connect to 4G LTE network for a monthly fee but the best part is buyers don’t need to sign a service contract with the carrier.
One more good news is that the Wi-Fi only version of the Motorola XOOM will be available for around $599. So all you who were not that willing to shell $799 but badly want a Motorola XOOM along with the superb Android 3.0 experience now know what to do.
To remind you of what XOOM boasts of, there’s a solid 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor beating at the heart of the tablet, which is 10.1 inches wide diagonally and comes with both front (5MP) and back (2MP) cameras and 32 GB of storage — add Android 3.0 to that to get the complete feel of the most awaited android gadget (maybe, after Nexus One, yeah!).
So, who and who buying the Wi-Fi ($599) and non-Wi-Fi ($800) versions of the most promising android tech?
