The Moto G7 is receiving a new software update in the U.S. that installs the latest Android security patch available for the device, but not the newest around.
If you got yourself the Moto G7, the incoming update brings January 2019 security patches to the budget handset alongside other changes that fix bugs and improve the overall system stability.
Also on the receiving end of a new update in the U.S. is the Moto X4, where the company has the latest update that has even not been released by Google – March 2019. Yes, Motorola has already published release notes for this month’s security patch for the X4, although the official rollout should begin pretty soon.
Interestingly, another Motorola devices, the Moto One, also got an update to March 2019 security patch a while ago, which speaks volumes about what Android One has to offer.
Both devices have Android 9 Pie running the show, with the Moto X4 having received the update towards the end of last year while the Moto G7 has it out of the box. But like any other OTA rollout, the whole process will be staggered, which means a wait of several days before all X4 and G7 units get the download notification.
