Motorola is getting ready to update the Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus to the latest Android security patches for April 2019.

The official Motorola support page has already detailed the release notes for both devices, suggesting that the rollout is around the corner. It’s worth noting that publishing the release notes doesn’t equate to an immediate rollout of the software, so don’t be surprised if the wait for this OTA takes you deep into the month.

Also, the fact that the Moto E5 duo is carrier-locked in the U.S. could lead to even more delays in rolling out the security update since carriers have to do extra works to make the software fully compatible with their networks.

In other related news, it is emerging that some Motorola phones could soon benefit from the Google Pixel Call Screen feature that protects users against spammers. However, this is likely to be limited to Android One variants like Moto One and Moto One Power.

Of course, Google hasn’t confirmed this rumor and for now, it’s just that – a mere rumor.
