Moto Z Play owners on the Rogers Canada carrier are in for a surprise as the smartphone is now receiving the update to Nougat. Well, calling it a surprise wouldn’t do it any justice, as the Moto Z Play was long due for an update. You can blame Lenovo hence forth for all further delays in updating Motorola devices. The device had been beta testing Nougat for a long time now.
The Moto Z Play will be receiving Android 7.0 Nougat and not 7.1.1. The Moto Z Play has been placed in the flagship positions by Motorola, thanks to its ability to support Moto Mods. To be honest, the Moto Z Play running on the Snapdragon 625, with 3GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch 1080p display paints a picture of a less expensive alternative to using Moto mods.
Following Motorola, Huawei’s Nova Plus is also expected to receive the OTA to Nougat very soon as revealed from Rogers Upgrade Schedule. The strange coincidence here is that the Nova Plus and the Moto Z Play share the same specifications with a few minor differences in battery and design.
