A few days back, David Schuster of Motorola took to Google+ to inform that the soak tests on the Moto X first generation model were smooth. This tipped that the original Moto X will be receiving the Android 5.1 Lollipop update soon.

The company is done with all the soak tests since the past week and Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the original Moto X smartphone is officially out for the retail devices in U.S. and Brazil and those on Rogers in Canada. The carrier specific Moto X (Gen 1) in U.S. will take a bit longer to receive the update while the unlocked units will receive it right away.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop update comes with several bug fixes, performance enhancements and notable changes. After receiving this update on your original Moto X smartphone, you can manage your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections right from the quick settings on your device.
