Update [April 06, 2017]: Motorola is pushing out the January security patch to its Moto G3, albeit delayed by a few months. The update arrives as software version 24.216o.12.en.EU and is meant for European users of the device. The OTA update brings with it many small under-the-hood performance improvements and also takes care of known issues.
Update [October 22, 2016]: Motorola has issued an update to Moto G 3rd Gen, but unlike its successor who is already rocking the soak test version of Nougat update in Brazil, while also been launched officially in India, the device is now receiving only a small update that brings the July security patch to the device. There is nothing else part of the changelog, BTW.
Original article: It was not only strange, but quite disappointing when Motorola didn’t include the Moto G 3rd Gen in its list of devices that the company is targeting to update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Sure that has upset many Moto G3 users, and now they have grouped up to force Motorola to listen to them and include the Moto G3 to Nougat update roadmap too. If you own a Moto G3, we would recommend you to sign the petition too, and hope Motorola remedies its mistake. Note it doesn’t guarantee you Nougat update, but it’s a good medium to let Moto know that they have upset you, deeply. Go here to sign the petition.
Timely updates have been Motorola’s bargain — we’re many users would have bought Moto G3 over better-spec’ed phones only because they want stock UI and newer Android OS version over the life of their Moto G 3rd Gen.
And right when you thought, okay, Nougat is here, and as a Moto G3 user, I will have it soon baby, the exclusion of Moto G3 by Motorola dropped as a bomb for the users.
You can now politely ask Motorola to include your Moto G3 to the list, which is something you should do, or must have already done. Good luck!
