Up until now, the Moto E series from Motorola was the cheapest range of smartphones available from the company. That’s going to change very soon though, as Motorola plans to announce the Moto C series.

We’ve seen a lot of leaked images of the Moto C, which should be announced in a regular and a Plus variant soon. We know how it is supposed to look and also the alleged specs. Therefore, here’s an all you need to know article that should help you learn all about the upcoming Moto C and Moto C Plus.

Moto C and Moto C Plus Specs

Design

As these are going to be cheapest smartphones in Motorola’s arsenal, they feature plastic bodies with a removable back panel. Both the Moto C and Moto C Plus have the same design and dimensions.

However, the Moto C Plus, by the looks of recently leaked renders, has a slight camera bump at the back. Both the devices have speaker grills at the back. The only way to tell them apart is by the camera bump on the C Plus.

Display

According to the leaked specs and all the rumors, both the devices would feature a 5-inch display, but with different resolutions. The Moto C is said to feature a 5-inch display with 854 x 480 resolution.

The Moto C Plus, on the other hand, would feature an HD panel. That’s about all the difference in both the devices externally, not that you’d notice the different screen resolutions.

Hardware

Now here’s where the Moto C and Moto C Plus differ. Both these devices would come with MediaTek processors. The standard Moto C is said to be powered by two different processors and one only supports 3G, while the other supports 4G. One would feature a 32-bit quad-core 1.3GHz processor, and the other a 1.1GHz 64-bit processor.

The Moto C Plus would feature a 64-bit quad-core processor running at 1.3GHz. And that’s all there is to know about the processors. Coming to the storage and RAM, the Moto C would come in both 8GB and 16GB variants. The C Plus would only be available in 16GB.

As for RAM, the Moto C is supposed to have 1GB, whereas the Moto C Plus could feature either 1 or 2GB, as per the variant.

Camera

The Moto C and the Moto C Plus are both going to have a 2MP front camera with front facing flash. The Moto C would feature a 5MP camera at the back, whereas the Moto C Plus would feature an 8MP unit.

Battery and Software

Motorola has apparently equipped the Moto C with a 2,350 mAh battery, while the Moto C Plus gets a 4000 mAh battery. That’s pretty good for low-end smartphones, plus the battery is most likely replaceable.

The phones will most definitely run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, similar to the upcoming Moto E4 series.

Moto C and Moto C Plus Release Date and Price

As always, we cannot really tell you when the Moto C and Moto C Plus would be released. However, the devices or at least one of its variants have been spotted on the FCC. This means that Motorola could announce them in a month or two.

Coming to the pricing, reports suggest that the standard Moto C could be priced below $100. Still, nothing concrete, so don’t get too excited about it. We will give you all the details when the phones are actually announced.
