Xiaomi has a new update for Mi users. The update installs MIUI 9 version 8.3.8 on both the Chinese ROM and Global ROM of the skin. Although the full changelog has not been published, we know a few things about the new update.
For instance, once you install MIUI 9 Global beta ROM 8.3.8, you’ll receive a nifty update to the Mi Drop app. After the update, Xiaomi users will now be able to both send and receive files when two devices are connected. Ideally, what this means is that once a connection is established, exchange of files will be two-way unlike in the past where it was one-way. When connected to send files, you wouldn’t receive a file and if connected to receive a file, you wouldn’t send a file until you disconnect and reconnect accordingly.
MIUI 9 Global beta 8.3.8 also improves the page for sharing the Mi Drop app through a personal hotspot and fixes the bug that made it appear corrupted when shared via a hotspot.
For those using the Chinese Developer ROM of MIUI, a new update has been introduced to the Blocklist settings, where you can manually add numbers you wish to block to the list.
The update is rolling out over the air and as such, it’ll take some time, perhaps days, before all eligible Xiaomi handsets get the OTA notification.
