Xiaomi released the stable version of the MIUI 9 Global ROM a while back and this version is based on Android Nougat. However, the company also followed it up with another version of the same MIUI 9 skin, but this one is based on Android Oreo.
It is this Oreo version that has just received an update to build number 8.1.25. Note that it’s still in beta, but with it comes an important addition to the few devices that are currently compatible with the Oreo-based Global Beta ROM.
After the update to version 8.1.25, the MIUI now has an overhauled Mi Music app. According to Xiaomi, this is a convenience upgrade that comes with a redesigned homepage and a new Current Queue layout.
In the new version of the Mi Music app, the upper area of the homepage now displays a list of “Recent Played”, “Favorites”, and “My Playlists” and your stored files are grouped by their name, artist, album or folders as shown in the images below.
As expected, you also get fixes for bugs, more specifically the issue where saved contacts still appeared as numbers in the call log rather than show by name, among other refinements.
The new MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM version 8.1.25 is rolling out over the air, which means it’ll take some time before all eligible devices get the OTA notification to download it.
