The Redmi S2, also known as Redmi Y2 in India, was the first Xiaomi device to be upgraded to the stable MIUI 10 for the global ROM. This update came in carrying software version MIUI 10.0.1 and today, the device is receiving the first maintenance update since the release of the stable ROM.

Rolling out as MIUI 10.0.4, the incoming update, as you’d expect, is all about fixing bugs discovered in the initial MIUI 10 release. As per the changelog, the most notable inclusion is the improvement to the background blur for the selfie camera, meaning portrait shots will now look much better.

The update also brings more stability to the camera system and fixes issues with using the device as a portable hotspot when you switch to Second space. The update also adds a switch for the sound of deletion and fixes an issue where the screen wouldn’t unlock after tapping a lock screen notification.

The MIUI 10.0.4.0.OEFMIFH update is airborne, meaning it will take some days before all Redmi S2/Y2 units get the download notification. While you have the option to wait, there’s no need of to do so when we already have both the recovery and fastboot download links with us (below), but be sure you know how to do a manual installation of MIUI 10 ROM on your device, otherwise, it’d be wise to sit back and wait for the OTA download notification.
