One of Android 9 Pie’s major highlights is the addition of digital wellbeing, a feature that Google hopes will help users monitor their smartphone usage patterns.
The feature is available for Google Pixel users with Android Pie installed and has been rolling out to a handful of non-Google phones in the recent past, the latest devices to join the party coming from Xiaomi running MIUI 10 beta.
As part of the latest MIUI 10 beta 9.4.18 update, Xiaomi is now rolling out its own version of digital wellbeing that is aptly named Screen Usage Time. As the name suggests, this feature will keep an eye on your screen usage time in a bid to help you keep a healthy digital life.
This feature can be found in Settings > Screen Usage Time after updating to MIUI 10 beta 9.4.18, which has begun rolling out today. Also part of this update is optimizations to fingerprint unlock experience, where double-tapping on a notification message to unlock your phone now takes advantage of the scanner and not necessarily the password.
The new beta also optimizes the animation on the password interface after successful unlocking of the phone using Face unlock, optimizes the beauty cam and filter interactive experience, optimizes photo, portrait and video mode for a unified beauty cam and filter entry, optimizes the position order of short videos and slow motion, and fixes status bar battery power refresh interval.
You can only get this OTA update if you have MIUI 10 beta installed on your Xiaomi phone, otherwise, you’ll have to manually install it once the firmware is available for download.
