Microsoft is trying several innovations to enhance its presence in the smartphone and tablet market. To do so, the software giant is working on partnerships with other manufacturers so that there is a wider user base for Microsoft apps.
Eventually, Microsoft has partnered with Android device makers such as Samsung, Dell and Pegatron. As a result of the partnership, the devices from these vendors will be preloaded with the firm’s flagship product – Office. This way, Microsoft is aiming to preload Office on a significant number of smartphones and tablets.
Microsoft had officially announced that it will be establishing partnerships with several manufacturers to ship Office preloaded in their devices. Such devices will be preinstalled with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, OneDrive and OneNote.
The largest partner of Microsoft is Samsung and the maker’s flagship devices – Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were preinstalled with Office and other Microsoft apps as well. Hence, we can expect this to continue in Samsung’s future smartphones and tablets.
The next prominent partner of Microsoft is Dell that is known for its tablets and a few smartphones. Pegatron has been recently roped in by Microsoft to preload the Office apps in its offerings.
Besides these vendors, Microsoft has signed deals with several regional makers including Casper of Turkey, Datamatic of Italy, QMobile of Pakistan, DEXP of Russia, Hipstreet of Canada, Tecno of Africa, JP Sa Couto of Portugal and TrekStor of Germany.
