Although Microsoft had unveiled its Slack competitor, Microsoft Teams back in November last year, it’s been available only to a limited set of preview users until now. That’s, however, going to change next week. The Redmond giant is hosting an online event on March 14th to celebrate the global availability of the Microsoft Teams for the Office 365 users.
The online event will begin on March 14, 8:30 AM PT where the Microsoft Corporate Vice President Kirk Koenigsbauer will join the event along with a special guest to “share perspectives on teamwork, what’s new in Microsoft Teams, and talk about how customers are using Office 365 to collaborate and deliver great results.”
We can expect the company to give us an in-depth look at the final (and new, if any) features of the Microsoft Teams along with tips in regards to how to make use of its new service.
For the unaware, Microsoft Teams is the company’s attempt to compete against the likes of Slack which took the world by storm. Redmond giant’s new chat-based service while having similar features like Slack, has a tighter Office integration, obviously. Teams also allow users to integrate social media accounts like Twitter to the chat rooms. Users can also integrate Skype for audio and video conversations. Now, that’s something Slack doesn’t offer just yet.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Microsoft Teams will affect Slack. What do you guys think? Slack or Microsoft Teams? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
