What to know

  • Microsoft has launched an AI-powered chatbot exclusively for US-based Xbox Insiders.
  • The Support Virtual Agent can answer questions about Xbox consoles and game support through text or voice interactions.
  • Users can provide feedback to help improve the chatbot, with an option to connect to live support agents if needed.

Microsoft has taken a significant step in revolutionizing gaming support by introducing its AI-powered Xbox Support Virtual Agent. This innovative chatbot appears as an animated AI character or a colorful Xbox orb, designed to efficiently address gaming-related support issues.

The virtual agent, accessible through support.xbox.com, quickly retrieves information to answer questions about Xbox console and game support problems. Users can interact with the system through both text and voice inputs, making it more accessible and user-friendly.

To access this feature, Xbox Insiders in the United States must:

  1. Visit the Contact Us page on support.xbox.com.
  2. Sign in with their Xbox Insider Program account.
  3. Click on “Ask a question” to launch the chatbot in a new browser window.

If the AI assistant cannot resolve an issue, users have the option to connect with a live support agent during regular Xbox Support operating hours. Microsoft is actively collecting user feedback through “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” buttons and a dedicated feedback section to enhance the virtual agent’s capabilities.

This implementation represents Microsoft’s broader strategy to integrate AI across its gaming platform and services. While currently limited to US-based Xbox Insiders with English as their preferred language, this beta testing phase will help shape the future development of the support system.
