It appears like Micromax is all set to roll out an update for its Cyanogen OS based smartphone Yu Yureka. The update is likely to be based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop platform and to arrive later this month.
The news regarding the update started circulating as the sub-brand of the largest India based vendor Micromax posted a teaser image on its social media channels hinting at the arrival of the new firmware.
As seen in the image below, the teaser shows a miniature of the connect-the-dots numbers game. On close observation, you can find out that the last dot is number 26. This makes it clear that we can expect a Cyanogen update based on Android 5.0 Lollipop to be rolled out to the Yu Yureka smartphones starting from March 26.
Of course, the Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware update will bring about the new ART runtime and Material Design changes to the Yu branded smartphone. Also, it will add several improvements and new features to the already capable smartphone.
To remind you, the Micromax Yu Yureka was launched with Cyanogen OS 11 based on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. It boasts of a 5.5 inch IPS display with a HD screen resolution of 720×1280 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. A 64 bit octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset powers the device along with Adreno 405 GPU and 2 GB of RAM.
For imaging, the Yu Yureka is given a 13 MP Sony Exmor CMOS sensor with auto focus, LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 5P Lens to render amazing low light performance. It has a 5 MP front facing selfie snapper with wide angle 4P Lens. Other aspects of the smartphone include 16 GB of default storage space that can be extended by another 32 GB, 4G LTE and a 2,500 mAh battery rated to pump up to 310 hours of standby time.
