Micromax is very silent on its plans about the release of Marshmallow update for its devices, and that’s really killing many users who are at pain to know when their favorite Canvas Android device is set an OTA of the coveted Android 6.0 update.

Whether you consider the Canvas Express 2, Express 4G, Canvas 5 or any other device, the company is disappointingly pent-up on the Marshmallow update plans.

Let’s see how the Marshmallow update could span out for variety of devices.

Official Micromax Marshmallow Update

Even though the company has avoided laying down a roadmap for Android 6.0 update in public, we’re sure the work is going on already.

It’s hard to say when we could be entertaining official Marshmallow update from Micromax for top flagship devices of the year 2015, but if we are to put up a date, we would say January 2016 for one device, which could be Canvas 5.

Other eligible Micromax devices could follow get the 6.0 update sometime in Feb and March 2016.

This is disappointingly late release, but it looks likely for the most part, and is saddening too, if you love timely updates as much as we do.

The Marshmallow update was released by Google in first week of October, and we’re already nearly full two months into it. In any case, we would want Micromax to release the Android 6.0 for at least one of its 2015 flagship by now, but sadly that’s not the case.

Having used Nexus devices for past 3-4 years, it’s unbearable for me. With this track record, it’s easy to say that it’s exceptionally hard for people who are used to with quicker updates with Nexus devices to consider buying even the best of Micromax currently available on the market.

Unofficial Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update [CM13]

Well, thanks to vast development that goes on in Internet forums, we’ve seen unofficial Marshmallow update appear for variety of devices unofficially, when officially means were all dried up.

Not only the latest devices like Motorola Moto G3, E2, X3, but even older devices like Moto E, G1, G2, X, X2, or Galaxy S3, S4, S5, etc. have a Marshmallow build available, mostly in thanks to custom ROMs like CM13.

Not that CM13 is your only source of unofficial Marshmallow update, there are other custom ROMs like Omni, Chroma, etc and simple AOSP ROMs available, that are bringing the Android 6.0 update to devices that are too old to be hopeful of Marshmallow update from the OEM.

Which is why, it’s not wrong to hope for an unofficial update for Micromax devices, but sadly, you will be disappointed here too.

The reason is, recent Micromax devices have seen little to no development, meaning there is no Marshmallow custom ROM available for almost all of devices.

If you were hoping for a CM13 ROM for your Micromax device, there is none available as of now.

If a Marshmallow custom ROM comes for any Micromax device, we will be sure to update this page and share the link with you guys. Keep watching this page for that.

At the moment, neither Omni nor CM13 or any other custom ROM based on Marshmallow is available for any Micromax device.

Wrap-up

Well, when it comes to updates, Micromax sucks. There’s no way around it. OUt of the gazillion of Android sets company has, only 4 devices looks like getting Marshmallow update.

Marshmallow is okay releasing devices well into Q2 and Q3 2015, that are running Android 4.4 and 5.0 Lollipop, when 5.1 was released back in January 2015.

Truth be told, you’d be wasting your time waiting, or hoping, for the Marshmallow update on your device, if it’s not Canvas 5, Nitro 3, Juice 3 or Express 4G.

Yes, Canvas A1 is already running Android 6.0 (Android 6.0.1 in fact) because that Android One set, one which receives updates directly from Google.

Other devices will most probably see their next generation released, probably on Marshmallow, rather receive the Android 6.0 update as an OTA.

So, which Micromax device do you own? What are your thoughts on Marshmallow update and Micromax?

We’d love to hear your views on this whole scenario.
