Meta is expanding the capabilities of its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, bringing live translation and advanced artificial intelligence features to a broader audience. The new update allows users to translate conversations in real time between English, French, Italian, and Spanish.

You can activate the feature by saying, "Hey Meta, start live translation." Spoken words are translated and played through the glasses' speakers, while your responses can be viewed as translated text on the Meta View app on your phone.

If you download the necessary language packs ahead of time, the translation works even without an internet connection, making it useful in areas with limited connectivity. This feature was previously available only to early access users but is now rolling out to all owners globally.

Meta is also enhancing the AI capabilities of the glasses. The new "Live AI" feature enables the glasses to analyze your surroundings through the built-in camera and provide contextual responses.

For example, the AI can help with tasks like meal preparation, gardening, or identifying objects, and it can answer questions about what you are looking at without needing to repeat the wake phrase.

This conversational mode is initially available in the US and Canada, with plans to expand to more countries soon.

In addition to translation and AI improvements, Meta is introducing new style options for the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, including more frame and lens combinations.

The glasses are also launching in new markets such as India, Mexico, and the UAE, furthering Meta's goal of making smart glasses accessible to users worldwide. Users can now send and receive messages and calls via Instagram, and enjoy expanded music support with services like Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music, provided their system language is set to English.

These updates mark a significant step in integrating AI and real-time language translation into everyday wearable technology, making communication and contextual assistance more seamless and accessible for users around the world.
