The world’s first tablet with a built-in projector is now a reality and has been announced as the lumiTab (yep, that’s a small l), a 7-inch tablet that sports a 35 lumen 854 x 480 projector with a promise of projections up to 100″ diagonal in a dark room, manufactured by Promate.

Running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the lumiTab is powered by a TI OMAP4460 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and sports a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels on its 7-inch display. There’s 16GB of on-board storage that is expandable via a microSD slot, 2-megapixel cameras at the front and rear, and a 4,800 mAh battery to provide all the juice for that inbuilt projector.

Connectivity-wise, the lumiTab has Wi-Fi802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, a USB 2.0 port that supports USB OTG, and an HDMI output port as well. You also get dual stereo speakers, which should ensure better – or at least louder – sound than most other tablets that make do with a single speaker.

Release dates or pricing weren’t announced, though we’ll be sure let you know about those once more details become available.
