A new update has started rolling out for the Sprint LG G Flex 2 that fixes the Stagefright bug on the device. It’s in line with how nearly all popular Android devices are receiving the Stagefright fix as an update. The update ups the software version to LS996ZV8.
Stagefright is a critical vulnerability in Android messaging code, and requires immediate fix. Sprint has already updated many of its device to fix the same, and that list includes Sprint One M8, Desire 816, Galaxy Note 4 (Android 5.1), Galaxy Note Edge and Nexus 6.
If you have root access on Sprint LG G Flex 2, please be aware that installing the update will unroot your device. Unless you are sure that a root trick is available for LS996ZV8, don’t update if you want to keep root access.
Your Sprint G Flex 2 must be receiving an update notification soon, over the next few days, but in case it doesn’t or you want it early, you can try to force the update. Go to Settings > About device, and tap on ‘check for update’ button under System update.
