Motorola confirmed on twitter today that they are updating the Moto G device in India and US today. In US, it’s the Moto G 2014 (3nd generation) that’s receiving the Android 5.0 update. While in India, both generations of Moto G will start seeing the Lollipop update from today.
Since the Moto X was launched, Motorola has been real quick with updates, and today, by updating Moto G to Lollipop, it has made the device the first one to receive update under mid-range segment. Not that it’s the least costing device, whose crown is already in the head of XOLO One, priced just $100, around half of Moto G 2014’s price.
The update is under distribution and will be received on all Moto G device over a period of time. Don’t worry if you haven’t got it yet or not even for a day or two, as your Moto G will definitely get it sooner or later. Hammering the check update option in settings may not help, either.
Moto G device running KitKat right now will be updated to Android 5.0.2, latest Android update available, with build number being LBX22.
Talking about the Lollipop updates, btw, HTC One M7 and Galaxy S4 are next in line and some serious evidence of builds being under testing is already available. However, LG has already started distributing the Lollipop update for its G2, though that’s limited to Korea for now.
