Lineage OS arrives unofficially to Google Pixel and Pixel XL

The Pixel and Pixel XL from the almighty Google have now made the cut to Lineage OS, albeit unofficially. Both devices stole the show last year by bringing users a whole lot closer to the Google ecosystem.

Both the Pixel and Pixel XL provided the purest, most complete Android user experience that you could ever get your hands on. The devices packed in spectacular hardware which easily rose to compete with flagships from Samsung, Apple and the like.

Now, if you’re wondering what Lineage OS is, it is a custom ROM which will allow you to take full advantage of the the Pixel and Pixel XL’s hardware. This includes higher performance gains (the Pixel phones are already great performers, btw!), tons of customization options to tinker with, and many other tweaks that you can apply based on your personal preference.

This particular build of Lineage OS 14.1 includes the usual set of Google Apps built-in. So, that will save you the trouble of downloading and flashing Gapps separately. Another added bonus is that this build of Lineage OS also contains the stock Google Camera app instead of the Snapdragon camera app. There may be a few bugs in the system, but they shouldn’t cause any major problems. These issues will eventually be ironed out with the next LOS update.

The official build of Lineage OS isn’t far off though. Given a few weeks time, we could see official nightlies for the Pixel and Pixel XL. Until then, happy Androiding!
