The LG X Power isn’t as popular as the flagship G6 or the V20. It mostly covers mid-range ground and this is probably why the smartphone is still stuck with Marshmallow. The US Cellular variant of LG X Power just received another update with software version to US61010c that is based on Android 6.0.1, however we don’t have a changelog for it yet.

The LG X Power was launched in September last year with Marshmallow out of the box. It has been a good ten months since then and from the look of things, the device may not be in line for Nougat in its lifetime. Though LG has a good market presence, thanks to its stint with the V20 receiving Nougat first, its lower end lineup doesn’t receive the same amount of attention.

The update is on the roll as we speak, if you haven’t already received the update notification yet, you can try checking manually in Settings » About » Software update. Once it arrives, ensure that all of your personal data, files, music, etc are backed up. This is in case something goes wrong during installation.

Before proceeding with the installation also make sure that your X Power has at least 50% charge and download the update over WiFi to save on extra data costs. Of late, a new LG device running Nougat has shown up at FCC. Keep an eye out here to find out more about this mystery device.
