Although LG has its own setup for allowing bootloader unlock on its premium devices, the Korean manufacturer, however, decided on keeping bootloader unlocking as simple as it can be for the T-Mobile variant of LG V20.
LG V20 was the first phone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat. And while it didn’t took long for Android 7.0 Nougat to get rooted on other devices, the LG V20 took pretty long to get root access because of LG’s strict security in place.
Below is a guide to unlock bootloader on your T-Mobile V20 H918. But before you proceed, know that unlocking the bootloader will wipe/delete all data on your LG V20. So make sure you take a backup of all important files on the device before unlocking the bootloader.
How to Unlock Bootloader on LG V20 H918
- Setup ADB and Fastboot on your PC.
- Enable Developer options, USB debugging and OEM Unlock on your device.
- Connect your LG V20 to the PC with a USB cable, then pull down the notification bar on phone » tap on USB charging this device notification and select Transfer photos (PTP) as mode for the USB connection.
- Open a command window on your PC.
- Boot your LG V20 into bootloader mode using the following command:
adb reboot bootloader
